Description

Polyurethane components are used in mechanical engineering and vehicle construction as well as in tool and fixture construction and have to meet a wide variety of requirements. Roughly speaking, a distinction is made between a springing (energy-retaining) or damping (energy-absorbing) function.

Spring and damping elements must retain their properties over a long period of time in order to perform their function well. This requires a lot of know-how in polyurethane development as well as in the analysis of the operating conditions. Through our own formulation development and our laboratory, we have the possibility to bring exactly this know-how into your project.

The essential parameters for the successful use of polyurethane are:

  • Mechanical properties (spring characteristic, settling tendency, compression set, rebound elasticity, hysteresis…).
  • Chemical resistance to hydrolysis, solvents, greases, …
  • Type and direction of load
  • Type and possibility of mounting

Polyurethane is used to produce compact spring elements but also cellular damping elements. An essential advantage that we offer as Polytec Industrial is the combination of both systems. For example, a foamed damping layer (gray / Sylothane) can be overlaid with a compact wear layer (yellow / Tecthan). The result is a combination of the best properties from both worlds.

A successful and proven application for this are impact plates used in crushing machines, for example. The damping Sylothane layer protects the machine from hard impacts, while the compact Tecthan layer protects the component from wear.

Another field of application is the use as damping machine elements to protect your machines or even the foundation from vibrations.

With our technical know-how and our variety of polyurethane formulations we are at your disposal for project.
